The focal point of the epic Battle for Overton Park was the March 2, 1971 U.S. Supreme Court decision Citizens to Preserve Overton Park v. Volpe, but the battle lasted an entire quarter-century from the mid-1950s to 1981. And if you were born any time before the early 1960s, chances are you have a personal memory of the epic battle that saw the final victory of Citizens to Preserve Overton Park over the east-west route of Interstate 40 thru the park.
