Calling all bookworms, literary enthusiasts, and fun lovers! Mark your calendars for 2024 Bookstock the Memphis Area Authors’ Festival, celebrating 10 years of local talent. Join us on Saturday, April 6th, from 11am to 3pm at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library for a fun-filled day of literary discoveries.

What awaits you:

  • Meet and greet over 60 local authors: Get your books signed, chat with your favorite writers, and discover new voices in the Memphis literary scene.
  • Dive into exciting workshops: Attend the From Ideation to Ink:  Q&A panel for publishing insights, or step into the Virtual Reality Empathy Lab for a unique experience.
  • Unleash your inner creative: Join the Star Wars Lego Build: Millennium Falcon challenge, or be enthralled by local choir and dance performances.
  • Family fun for all: Enjoy live music, indulge in delicious food trucks, and keep the kids entertained with face painting and a balloon artist. Plus, take home free books.

Meet our star-studded keynote speakers:

  • Avery Cunningham, rising Memphis author, will captivate you with her critically acclaimed debut novel, The Mayor of Maxwell Street, a love story set in early 20th-century Chicago.
  • Dr. Sidney Thompson, bestselling author of The Bass Reeves Trilogy, will share fascinating insights into the life of a historical hero and inspire you with his award-winning historical fiction. These books are the inspiration for the Paramount miniseries Lawmen: Bass Reeves.
