Book-Signing & Reading at Burke’s: Corey Mesler and his new novel Cock-a-Hoop

Poet, novelist and Burke’s Book Store owner, Corey Mesler, will be at Burke’s Book Store on Thursday, September 29th, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM to read from and sign copies of his new novel, Cock-a-Hoop: The Adventures, mostly, of Neill Rhymer (Whiskey Tit Books, $27.00 paperback). Reading will begin at 6 pm.

Semi-autobiographical in nature (though the author rejects all research into ferreting out real people in the manuscript) this novel was three and a half years in the making and is Mesler’s longest book to date. It may very well be his magnum opus.

“With Cock-a-Hoop, I marveled as always at the irrepressibility of Mesler’s prose, the heady celebration of sex, the deep pathos inherent in the hilarity, to say nothing of the spectacular cover.  In his career, Mesler has consistently created oases of light, necessary stops for refreshment without which it would be much more difficult to cross the often dark desert of years. Cock-a-Hoop is yet another of these sanctuaries.” Steve Stern, author of The Village Idiot, and the Jewish Book Award-winning, The Wedding Jester

Corey will also be signing his novel The Diminishment of Charlie Cain (Livingston Press, 2020), which was lost in the pandemic madness. Copies of either book, or any of the author’s works, may be ordered signed or inscribed by going to www.burkebooks.com.
