Pizza with Planners: Community Development Candidate Forum

Strong leaders support strong neighborhoods. BLDG Memphis will host a nonpartisan candidate forum in the lead up to the City of Memphis Municipal election on October 5. The questions posed to the candidates during the forum will focus on issues of neighborhood investment.

BLDG Memphis is hosting Pizza with Planners Community Development Candidate Forum Thursday, July 27 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Benjamin Hooks Central Library. The forum is open to all candidates running for Mayor and City Council. Prior to the event, candidates will submit a questionnaire responding to questions related to affordable housing, transit and mobility, solid waste and litter and racial equity. We will publicize the answers online a week before the forum, to allow residents the chance to learn about the candidates’ positions on these important community issues.

Memphians will have the opportunity to partake in small table discussions with District City Council Candidates who choose to attend. These discussions will be moderated by BLDG’s Community Development Corporation members who are invested in that district.

The forum will also feature a larger discussion with mayoral candidates and staff who choose to attend, focusing on the topics of housing, infrastructure, pedestrian safety, public transit and more.

As always with Pizza with Planners, pizza is provided!

Register here for the event. Hurry, seats are going fast!

*All candidates running for Mayor and City Council have been invited to participate in this nonpartisan questionnaire and forum. BLDG Memphis is a non-profit 501c3 and does not endorse any candidate running for election.*
