This Saturday: GPAC Welcomes Acclaimed, 18 year-old Jazz Pianist Joey Alexander

Germantown Performing Arts Center (GPAC) is excited to announce the upcoming concert of Grammy-nominated pianist Joey Alexander. The internationally renowned festival and concert hall headliner will perform in the Duncan-Williams Performance Hall as a part of the GPAC Jazz Series on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at the GPAC website or by calling the box office at (901)751-7500.

At the young age of 18, Bali-born Alexander has accrued a lifetime of accolades. He appeared on primetime TV at the 58th Grammy Awards, performed for the Obamas at the White House, was the youngest artist ever invited to lead a band at the Newport Jazz Festival, sold out his debut at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall, sold out the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center, topped the Billboard Jazz Albums chart on multiple releases, garnered a front-page profile in the New York Times, and was profiled by 60 Minutes. Alexander embodies a jaw-dropping mastery of jazz standards and composes idiosyncratic original works.

“Joey delights audiences everywhere with his highly expressive, emotional, and sincere artistry,” said Paul Chandler, Executive Director of GPAC. “We welcome the thrilling pianist-composer with open arms.”
