COVID-19: MEM Announces Emergency Relief Fund

From Elizabeth Cawein

Music Export Memphis has established a fund to provide financial relief for Memphis musicians who have lost income because of cancellations due to Coronavirus/COVID-19.

MEM is seeking donations to this fund now to get relief flowing to our music community. Donate using the link below. Important note: there is a dropdown menu that allows you to choose how your gift should be designated – please select COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund. If you would like to make a gift of $1,000 or more to this fund, please contact MEM Executive Director Elizabeth Cawein to process the gift:

600 Monroe Avenue, Ste. 101
Memphis, TN 38103

Music Export Memphis will not take any percentage of funds raised to cover administrative costs so that all donations will go directly to artists. MEM is a 501c3 organization (ID: 82-2214830) and your gift is tax deductible.

We are working closely with partners in the arts and philanthropy space in Memphis now to determine the best mechanisms for awarding funds to those in need. Though we are still building out the process for accessing relief, it felt critical to open fundraising channels immediately.

If you are an artist in need of support, what we can tell you now is that the application will be simple and have two requirements: that you live in Memphis and can provide some proof of lost income from COVID-19. In short, artists: we’ve got your back. Stand by for details on how to access funds.

We don’t know how large our applicant pool will be, but we know that our music community numbers in the thousands. In order to provide meaningful support to each musician, we need to raise a LOT of money. In short, Memphis: we need your help.
